Fishing was the main industry in the Maldives until late 70's when Tourism began to flourish and it has now become the largest economic activity. The islands of the Maldives archipelago are famous for their pristine white sandy beaches and crystal clear blue water. It is now home to some of the finest resorts in the world.

Maldives Tuna are caught only on pole and line; a fact, making the Maldives fisheries industry the most environmentally sustainable and dolphin friendly in the world.

Shark fishing, Turtle hunting as well as Dohpin fishing are not exercised in the Maldives, with the first two banned by law.
